UBD for Asean University Games

Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) will be represented by 25 of its best athletes for the 14th Asean University Games from Dec 10-21 in Malaysia.The Asean University Games were established with the main aim of building ties among the universities of Asean. A total of 22 sports will be contested this year.
Dr Saiful Azmi bin Hj Awang Husain, the chef-de-mission of the contingent who is also a member of the Asean University Sport Council together with Hj Aji bin Hj Nokman, the secretariat of the UBD's contingent left for Kuala Lumpur to attend the coordinating meeting yesterday.
According to Dr Saiful, Universiti Brunei Darussalam will be contesting three sports namely pencak silat, netball and futsal.
He said UBD has a good chance of winning a medal in futsal because we're the reigning champion of the UiTM sport fiesta.
Other sporting events being contested include athletics, archery, badminton, beach volleyball, tenpin bowling, football, golf, hockey, karatedo, lawn bowling, rugby seven, shooting, squash, swimming, table tennis, taekwando, sepak takraw, volleyball and basketball.
The UBD athletes will be leaving for Kuala Lumpur tomorrow.
